Neat place to have a picnic , walk around and site all the history that is here . the last time i was there it was a quick visit. but i will be back again and stay longer
Truly a must visit location for civil war buffs and enthusiasts. A great selection of period weapons and ammo on display...as well as a great bit of history for VMI enthusiasts as well. You can walk the battlefield, which helps you feel more in touch with the soldiers who faught there.
Fascinating museum, interesting landmarks, informative descriptions of actions at each marker along the battlefield, and accurate representations of the scenes and living quarters of the Bushong farm and household. This place is, by all means, quite the enjoyable experience for the history-lovers and yet a somber and silent remembrance of the dedication, and courage, and patriotism of soldiers on both sides.
Just off Route 81 southbound. Easy to spot.
Great piece of history here. Take the 45 minute tour and see the short film inside called "The field of lost shoes".
